Athl: Kluft sweeps to heptathlon gold
CAROLINA KLUFT has completed her domination of the Olympic heptathlon to add the gold
medal to the world title she won last year.
The 21-year-old Swede began the day with a 240-point lead and stretched it further
in the long jump and javelin.
It meant she entered the final 800 metres an enormous 492 points clear and needing
only to stay on her feet for two laps to win gold.
She duly negotiated the race successfully for the title.
Lithuania's AUSTRA SKUJYTE took silver ahead of BRITON KELLY SOTHERTON in bronze.
